Need for Creating Guru Nanak Food Pantry
(An organization that belongs to all of us)

Since the creation of Sikhism,
It is a Sikh tradition to serve the needy and feed the hungry with respect and dignity.

Historical Examples are:
Sri Guru Nanak Dev Jee & Mata Khivi ji performed this service themselves and taught us to Share with the needy and treat all human race as one. It was NOT a mere talk, but they practiced this in their daily life.

Why Giving is Important?

It MUST be part of our daily life

Giving  is important. It is a Gift of God. There is a reason so many people love giving. Although we do not do it to get anything, it can fill us with incredible joy and state of Bliss. Giving and sharing with those in need fosters a sense of compassion and empathy within us.
This act of kindness not only helps those in need but also enriches our own lives by cultivating a deeper sense of gratitude and perspective.

We are devotees of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Jee and the prime message of Guru Jee to humanity is that we MUST share with the needy.

Guru Nanak Food Pantry Inc located in Hamden provides that opportunity required to put the above teaching of Guru Nanak Dev ji in practice. Guru Nanak Food Pantry provides a venue & opportunity for us & for our children to give, serve and share with the needy.

Why We Give?

People give for various reasons. Some are motivated by a desire to help those in need, while others find joy in sharing their resources. Giving can be a way to express gratitude, support a cause, or simply spread kindness. Regardless of the motivation, the act of giving has profound effects on both the giver and the receiver.

The Benefits of Giving:

1. Emotional Well-being: Giving has been shown to boost happiness and reduce stress. When we give, our brains release endorphins, creating a “helper’s high” that enhances our mood and overall well-being.

2. Social Connections: Acts of giving strengthen our relationships with others. Whether it’s donating to a charity, volunteering time, or offering support to a friend, giving fosters a sense of community and belonging.

3. Personal Growth: Giving encourages us to look beyond our own needs and consider the needs of others. This perspective can lead to personal growth, increased empathy, and a deeper understanding of the world around us.

Conclusion:
Giving is a powerful tool that can transform lives and communities. It reminds us of our shared humanity and the importance of compassion. By embracing the spirit of giving, we not only help others but also enrich our own lives in ways we may never have imagined.
